Atomium
During your stay in Brussels, a visit at the Atomium is an absolute must. This cult monument, built for the International Exhibition of 1958, defies the laws of gravity. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the building has just recently been renovated, and has a wide variety of exhibitions on display. Treat yourselves to a delicious meal at the Belgium Taste in the Sky, the restaurant that is located in the central sphere of the building itself, at around 102 meters above the ground. Once up there, do take full advantage of the breathtaking view of Brussels.
Opposite, children and their parents will love Mini Europe, a miniature park that takes you on a trip all across Europe, with all of the most renowned european monuments and beautiful cities. Further up, the Parc des Expositions du Heysel with its central pavilion, dating back to the 1935 universal exhibition, and the Trade Mart that brings together numerous textile and decoration showrooms. Two steps away are the Domaine Royal de Laeken, the Palais Royal, and its marvellous royal greenhouses (Serres Royales), that can be visited a few days each year. Beside it, you cannot miss the Museums of the Far-East, that group together La Tour Japonaise and Le Pavillon Chinois, which both possess fabulous object and porcelain collections, and that were built at the request of King Leopold II, to celebrate the Exhibition of 1905.
